The Sea of Galilee Crossing is the largest swimming event in Israel. This fantastic long-standing tradition which began 65 years ago as become a world-renowned event for swimming enthusiasts from far and wide.

Hosted by the Jordan Valley Regional Council, this exceptional and extremely popular event takes place in the Sea of Galilee (the Kinneret), in northern Israel.

The backdrop of many significant historic and religious events, The Sea of Galilee (or Lake Kinneret) is a pilgrimage site for tourists the world over. However, this vast freshwater lake (by far Israel’s largest) is so much more than a historical landmark.

Some sandy, some rocky, some narrow, some wide, its stunning shores are lined with great places to relax by the waters, vast well-equipped camping grounds, cycling and walking trails.

The Sea of Galilee enjoys mostly calm and clear waters year-round and the provides the perfect setting for a swimming event which is not only physically exhilarating but also extremely enjoyable and unforgettable.

The event is open to professional as well as amateur swimmers seeking a unique and exciting swimming experience.
